Alfa Club Competition Championship – underway
Hi All,
We have kicked off the club competition championship with 2 events in March so I thought I would do an update of the standings. See the table below.
The first event was the MC Motorsport Sprint on the 22nd of March with 10 competitors in the class, of which 7 were Alfas. Bernard Cecchele took out maximum points (10) to lead the championship after round one. Round 2 was yesterday at the Northam Flying 50. Only 2 Alfas were entered, myself and Ivan, but as a result of a fifth place for Ivan, he has now overtaken Bernard with a total of 15 points.
The next events coming up in April are the Autumn Classic Regularity at Barbagallo on the 11-12th April, followed by Jacks Hill Climb, also at Barbagallo, on the 18th April. For those a bit concerned about getting out and not being competitive I suggest you try your hand at a Regularity event. They are NOT about being the quickest. It’s all about being consistent and nominating a time that you can maintain accurately. You lose points for going faster or slower than the time you are supposed to be doing and you set your own time based on your practice and the organisers estimate of what is right for you. They are good fun and you need minimal preparation or special equipment in your car. Basically fit a fire extinguisher and have towing eyes front and rear. That’s it!
I look forward to seeing more of you at future events and remember. The series has 13 events for you to choose 6 from, so it’s far from over if you miss a few.
Cheers for now
John Reed
